Are you viewing self love in all the wrong ways?

The term self love seems so hippy and rainbows and candle lit bath shit… 

The way the word self love is perceived is vastly different from actual self love. 


I think self love is highly marketed and rarely practiced. I mean we are all trying to be kinder to ourselves aren't we? But are we all actually being really kind to ourselves in the right way?


We live in a society that is about the push, the work hard, the do this and that, to be accepted and respected.

So what happens with that is that everyone is needing more self love.


Absolutely every single client, friend and person I know, myself included, could use a bit more self acceptance, kindness and self love.


And just to be clear self love isn't just about booking a massage every few weeks. Putting yourself and your needs first is less glamorous then sometimes portrayed.

Self love is not just getting your nails done and buying the top because you deserve it. 

Self love in the raw sense of the meaning is seriously uncomfortable. 


Real self love is saying no to people even though that seems so difficult and it would actually be easier to say yes. 

Real self love is staying up late to do meal prep for a few hours so you are nourishing your body. Feeding your body in loving way.

Self love is going for a walk or meditating even when you really really don’t fucking feel like it.


Self love is feeling into uncomfortable emotions instead of suppressing them. Feeling into the anger or sadness and transforming them into personal strength and power. 

Self love is admitting to someone you need a little extra love and support today just because. 

Self love is rejecting the call from the friend who drains you. 

Self love is no longer tolerating what doesn't serve you and stepping into a whole new you. 

Self love is choosing thought’s about your self with love and respect. Even if you didn’t do the thing you should be doing…   


Self love is not letting someone else’s bad mood affect your good mood. 

Sometimes self love is leaving the dishes and washing and taking a nap because you are absolutely exhausted and the world isn't going to end because you didn't finish the house chores and then self love is not feeling guilt because you took a nap instead of doing the house chores.
